Redefining the Repertory Company

Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre sit at the cultural heart of Dundee as a centre of creative excellence. The organisation looks outwards, creating and delivering work for a local, national and international audience, with learning at the heart. Together the twin ensembles have created a number of award-winning productions in Dundee that tour nationally and internationally; establishing a reputation as one of the UK’s leaders in theatre and dance production, carrying the Dundee brand far and wide.

With the traditional touring circuit closed, Scottish Dance Theatre is redefining the role of the repertory company and finding innovative ways to bring performance to a wider audience. This short film of Scottish Dance Theatre demonstrates the evolution of the company, with a focus on exploring new performance contexts and building deeper relationships with civic and artistic communities. The film includes their new outdoor performance, Every Map Has A Scale, their digital tour of Antigone Interrupted, and a collage of interviews with the company’s Artistic Director Joan Clevillé and Associate Director Jess Thorpe.
